In an e-learning environment that lacks the immediacy of physical interaction, real and quick communication becomes profoundly important.
MOQI has you covered here, with automated notifications for any kind of event (user registration, grades posted, etc.), as well as custom on-demand messages to any user or group.
Notifications are sent to their recipients as emails, which means that any web, desktop or mobile mail client can be used to read them.
To edit a notification, visit the Notifications section. In there you’ll see the full list of currently defined Notifications and you can edit any of them.
Clicking to edit a Notification (1), a form will be displayed where you have to select the recipients (which can be individual users, administrators, course professors, etc.), the exact time to send the notification when the event is triggered a subject (title) and a body of the notification, which is the message that will be shown to the recipients. You can define different subjects and bodies for end users (user causing the notification) and any other possible recipients.
Let’s go through a simple walkthrough for how to change a notification. We will edit the notification that is sent to all involved users every time a learner completes a course.
Click on the Edit icon of the row of ‘Course completed’ in Notifications tab.
On the Recipients control, we have selected ‘End user’, ‘User’s supervisor’, ‘Course instructors’ (2).
Note: When adding a specific user-type in the ‘Recipients’ box, if possible, all users with that user-type will receive the notification.We enter the subject (just something to describe our notification) for end user email (3).
We add the message we want the end user to see. We have the option to create different messages for each language group (English, French, etc students) (4) and to use keywords that will be automatically filled in by the LMS, such as the date/time, the recipient’s name, etc (5). This works the same as Work / Excel’s “mail merge” function, in case you’re familiar with that. We can set different subject (6) and body for other recipients (Course instructors and User’s supervisors in our example). In most cases, these types of recipients should see a slightly different description and message.
